When They See Us! (and Chernobyl)

When They See Us! (and Chernobyl)

I love a good limited series. A show that introduces and wraps up a show in just a few episodes and is, essentially, a very long movie.

I’ve recently watched a couple of extraordinary ones that were recently released and based on true events. Both are getting rave reviews (and rightfully so)! I’m sure you’ve heard of and maybe you’ve even seen both of these already. But just in case you haven’t, I wanted to shed some light on them, especially one in particular…

Movies in September!

Movies in September!

Movies in September!

Game of Thrones just ended (holy crap you guys -- what a season)! I'm going to really miss the cinematic beauty and storytelling of this show (also, our favorite episodic shows will be premiering later this month as well). But, we're getting closer to awards season, which (hopefully) means we'll start seeing some films that (hopefully) push boundaries and are out-of-the-box fantastic! Films that make us want to leave the bold, fresh tv shows we watch at home...to go out for the night to the theater!

I'm looking forward to a few films in September. All three of them actually have something in common -- they're based on true events! But I'm extremely excited about one in particular, starring recent Oscar winner and one of my favorite actresses Emma Stone! Along with my list of "movies to watch"...I have my "maaaybe list" and I've added one to see if "that's your jam" but that I most likely won't watch. So let's get to it shall we!

Movies in August!

Movies in August!

Can you believe it's already August?! This summer (and year) is moving way too fast -- but let's get to it!

August tends to be a transition period for films. It's the "in-between" as far as big summer blockbuster movies and the smaller, award season contenders aka some movies you might not have really heard of yet. :) The month of August might jumpstart award season by having a few contenders. Award season is my absolute favorite time for movies. (I'll get to that deep love later on... in September/October when things really start poppin' off!!) :)

My list for this month is a little tricky. I have just as many "maybes" as I do "for sure seeing" but, nevertheless --

Here's what I'm catching in the theater this month:

Reset & Reconnect

Reset & Reconnect

I had a (somewhat) "big birthday" a couple of weeks ago...and I always get in a state of reflection when my birthday arrives. But regardless of birthdays, I find that I tend to think about these things often, especially living here in Los Angeles.

We're constantly reminded that we should be hustling more and more. It surrounds us everywhere -- in every coffee shop, store, and with pretty much every person we meet.

L.A. is a place where people come to chase their dreams -- or to help bring their dreams to fruition and make them a reality. So it's natural, in a way, that we -- Angelenos -- would have that mindset. But I'm beginning to fully realize that that particular mindset isn't necessarily healthy to have on a constant basis.

Inclusion (& First Looks)!

Inclusion (& First Looks)!

I'd love to chat about BLACK PANTHER, A WRINKLE IN TIME, and SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING with you! :)

Coming off of last year when we saw more films with inclusive casts coming out in theaters, I wanted to take a moment to highlight some big tent-pole, blockbuster films that are all about inclusion!

Dunkirk (and Nolan & Zimmer)!

Dunkirk (and Nolan & Zimmer)!

I want to preface this by saying this is not a spoiler review. These are just some thoughts I had while watching the film, my thoughts after the film, and me expressing my love for Christopher Nolan and Hans Zimmer! :)

Dunkirk follows "Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire and France as they are surrounded by the German army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II."*

Okay, y'all -- what can I really say about Dunkirk!? :) It's a little hard for me to fully express my thoughts on this one. I've waited exactly a week to write this, letting my experience settle in and to try to grasp what I witnessed (and also because the NYC premiere is tomorrow and I wanted this post to come out right before it)!

Summer Lovin' (& Intentional Living)

Summer Lovin' (& Intentional Living)

S U M M E R !

It's here (tomorrow to be exact), but it's already, definitely, been "feeling" like it around L.A.

This heat y'all.

This heat is no joke, and I'm from the South! :) I, of course, am grateful for this air conditioned room I'm in while writing this (and for the ocean breeze when I'm on the westside). But this heat, Lord have mercy! Lol! But back to why I'm here (and looking on the B R I G H T side)! ;)

Los Angeles is a great place to be during the summer! Aside from being so ridiculously beautiful, there are so many endless activities, possibilities and staycation ideas...that you literally can't be bored around these parts (unless you "choose" to be)!

I'm starting to fill up my summer to-do list (which includes a lot of creative projects thank goodness!) But one major "thing" aka mantra that's at the top is:

L I V I N G  with  I N T E N T I O N.

I'm sure you've heard this phrase at one point or another. It tends to get thrown around a lot. But it's a mantra I try to hold at the forefront of my mind -- intentional living, to be an active participant in my own life.

I've been living in L.A. a while and I'm about to...

Movies in June!

Movies in June!

MOVIES: JUNE EDITION!

It's that time again! "Blockbuster season" is in full swing now! However, I'm not extremely anxious to see too much this month (I already saw the one I REALLY wanted to see!), but there are a few movies that I'm looking forward to seeing either this month or soon after (including the one I've seen already and will see again this weekend aka opening weekend :) lol)!

A few movies to watch in JUNE:

  • Wonder Woman*
  • Baby Driver
  • All Eyez on Me
  • The Beguiled

Coffee & Routines (& Gaga)

Coffee & Routines (& Gaga)

Coffee has been a great addition to each one of my days. Okay, let me break it down for you.

My work schedule can be a little all over the place. A lot of people living in Los Angeles or NYC -- or someone working in an industry like mine, can relate to this. Work days can be really sporadic sometimes.

A few months ago, I started a little routine. I started going to the coffee shop in the mornings -- even if I have a busy day ahead, I try to slip in going in the morning or early afternoon if I can. This is what I like to call my "me time" or "my thing"....

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman
"I will fight for those who cannot fight for themselves..." - Wonder Woman (Diana Prince)

I had the honor of watching the world premiere of Wonder Woman last night in Hollywood (work perks!) at the Hollywood Pantages Theater with Gal Gadot, Robin Wright, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, and other cast members in attendance.

Premieres and opening weekends are always fun, especially for iconic roles! The theaters are always packed with excited fans and there's lots of clapping and hootin' and hollerin' when these iconic characters grace the screen for the first time or when they do something cool in a scene! :) I love being in the room with people who really appreciate it and clap during the credits. :) Last night was no different...
