Movies in May!

Movies in May!

Last month's movies were so good and so fun!! :) The two films I recommended, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and A QUIET PLACE, did not disappoint and I have and will see them multiple times in the theaters. I loved them! I could talk all day about both actually. And they're for sure at the top of my fave movies list for the year so far, alongside BLACK PANTHER. :)

But back to May! We have a new selection of movies to choose from -- some big tentpole ones and a couple of smaller indie films! :)

My maybe list is jam packed with comedies too, including a play adaptation and one of the funniest ladies in the biz! Also, this might be the first time that I don't have a "if it's your jam" list of the movies that I absolutely won't see that may fancy your interest -- so let's focus on all those recs though!

Here's what's on my watchlist for this month...

Movies in April!

Movies in April!

It's April, which means spring is here (and the new Avengers: Infinity War is about to drop)!!

Last month, I saw a good amount of movies, thanks to my MoviePass! My favorite one from last month was a movie that was actually on my "maybe list" -- Ready Player One! Also quick side note, if you're looking for a way to see more movies in the theater, I highly suggest signing up for MoviePass! Life-changing for all movie lovers y'all, life-changingl! :)

Back to the movies for this month, I only have two films that I'm really, really excited to see! It's the shortest list I've had so far but one I also believe includes absolute hits! One of them is in a genre I hardly ever watch! (Oh geez!) The other is one that doesn't even need a description. ;)

My maybe list is stacked, and I'm positive I will be seeing a good amount of those as well, thanks to (again) my MoviePass! :) Also, I have a few on my "if it's your jam list" for the ones I won't be seeing but my fancy your interest.

So grab your cup of joe, and let's get to it! Here's what I'm seeing this month in theaters!

Movies In December!

Movies In December!

We've made it to the last month of the year and we're going out with a bang! :) This is my biggest watchlist yet! November had a lot of great films! I saw quite a bit of them too (check out some of my thoughts on some of those movies here)!

Now I know that it's December and we'll be devouring all of the wonderful Christmas movies, but award season consideration is still going on -- and we have some more great content to look forward to this month! :)

have six, that's right SIX films (plus a bonus one!) that I think you guys might want to catch at the theater for this month! That's not including my "maybe list" or my "if it's your jam" list either. The list also includes a few I've already seen, thanks to my guild's screenings going on right now for us!

So jumping right into it, here's what I'm seeing (or have already seen) in the theater this month:

Movie Review Rundown: November!

Movie Review Rundown: November!

QUICK REVIEWS: RECENT AND UPCOMING FILMS!

In an effort to discuss even more films that I've watched, I've decided to start a little blurb edition on some recent films I've seen, in the theater (and some at home)! Also, since it's awards season (cue happy dance!) I've been watching some films that the typical movie goer might have overlooked or might not have seen just yet -- and I'd like to hightlight those as well!

Below are a few films I've recently seen within the last month (minus a few like Justice League, that I saw but don't want to discuss). Here we have three that are currently in theaters and a couple that haven't hit theaters yet but that I got to see early!

MOVIES:

  • ROMAN J. ISRAEL, ESQ.
  • MUDBOUND
  • THOR: RAGNAROK
  • MOLLY'S GAME (out Christmas Day)
  • WONDER
  • WONDER WHEEL (out December 1st)

Movies in November!

Movies in November!

It's officially that time of the year aka one of my most favorite times -- not solely because Christmas is nearing (although that is one reason it's my favorite time of course) but because it's that time of the year when movie studios like to put on many, many free screenings for guild members to attend in hopes that their films will get nominations and hopefully some wins. It's awards season consideration time y! (Cue Happy Dance!)

Along with all of the screenings, this month is stacked & features a good mix of genres! We have a couple of superhero sequels (from Marvel and DC)! We also have a two time Oscar winner gracing the screen again, & a few indies (independent films), including a film from an award winning female director for Netflix that will be screened same-day in theaters and through their streaming service!

I have my usual "maybe" list & my "if it's your jam" list too! So let's dive right into it!

Movies in September!

Movies in September!

Movies in September!

Game of Thrones just ended (holy crap you guys -- what a season)! I'm going to really miss the cinematic beauty and storytelling of this show (also, our favorite episodic shows will be premiering later this month as well). But, we're getting closer to awards season, which (hopefully) means we'll start seeing some films that (hopefully) push boundaries and are out-of-the-box fantastic! Films that make us want to leave the bold, fresh tv shows we watch at home...to go out for the night to the theater!

I'm looking forward to a few films in September. All three of them actually have something in common -- they're based on true events! But I'm extremely excited about one in particular, starring recent Oscar winner and one of my favorite actresses Emma Stone! Along with my list of "movies to watch"...I have my "maaaybe list" and I've added one to see if "that's your jam" but that I most likely won't watch. So let's get to it shall we!

Movies in August!

Movies in August!

Can you believe it's already August?! This summer (and year) is moving way too fast -- but let's get to it!

August tends to be a transition period for films. It's the "in-between" as far as big summer blockbuster movies and the smaller, award season contenders aka some movies you might not have really heard of yet. :) The month of August might jumpstart award season by having a few contenders. Award season is my absolute favorite time for movies. (I'll get to that deep love later on... in September/October when things really start poppin' off!!) :)

My list for this month is a little tricky. I have just as many "maybes" as I do "for sure seeing" but, nevertheless --

Here's what I'm catching in the theater this month:

Inclusion (& First Looks)!

Inclusion (& First Looks)!

I'd love to chat about BLACK PANTHER, A WRINKLE IN TIME, and SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING with you! :)

Coming off of last year when we saw more films with inclusive casts coming out in theaters, I wanted to take a moment to highlight some big tent-pole, blockbuster films that are all about inclusion!

Dunkirk (and Nolan & Zimmer)!

Dunkirk (and Nolan & Zimmer)!

I want to preface this by saying this is not a spoiler review. These are just some thoughts I had while watching the film, my thoughts after the film, and me expressing my love for Christopher Nolan and Hans Zimmer! :)

Dunkirk follows "Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire and France as they are surrounded by the German army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II."*

Okay, y'all -- what can I really say about Dunkirk!? :) It's a little hard for me to fully express my thoughts on this one. I've waited exactly a week to write this, letting my experience settle in and to try to grasp what I witnessed (and also because the NYC premiere is tomorrow and I wanted this post to come out right before it)!

Movies in July!

Movies in July!

MOVIES: JULY EDITION!

It's the July edition already y'all! Time is moving by so quickly it seems. July is also my birthday month!! (And Game of Thrones premieres on my birthday actually! :) See my post on this great series here!)

But back to why I'm here -- it's time for my movie picks for July!! I always look forward to movies around this time, especially when I know Christopher Nolan has one premiering. He always seems to release his films in July (around my birthday usually). He knows what he's doing! ;)

Also, I can always count on at least one epic film that is both vast, entertaining, and hits a lot of emotional notes. So, here are a few films I'm looking forward to seeing in the theater this month:

  • Dunkirk
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming
  • War for the Planet of the Apes
