When They See Us! (and Chernobyl)

When They See Us! (and Chernobyl)

I love a good limited series. A show that introduces and wraps up a show in just a few episodes and is, essentially, a very long movie.

I’ve recently watched a couple of extraordinary ones that were recently released and based on true events. Both are getting rave reviews (and rightfully so)! I’m sure you’ve heard of and maybe you’ve even seen both of these already. But just in case you haven’t, I wanted to shed some light on them, especially one in particular…

The Magic That Is Life

The Magic That Is Life

I saw the most epic moon the other night in Joshua Tree as it was rising up. I was driving and literally pulled over because I was in complete awe. Dan was there, as he always is, for my deep, life thoughts.

There I was realizing, once again, the magic in life. The magic that is life…

Movies in May!

Movies in May!

Last month's movies were so good and so fun!! :) The two films I recommended, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and A QUIET PLACE, did not disappoint and I have and will see them multiple times in the theaters. I loved them! I could talk all day about both actually. And they're for sure at the top of my fave movies list for the year so far, alongside BLACK PANTHER. :)

But back to May! We have a new selection of movies to choose from -- some big tentpole ones and a couple of smaller indie films! :)

My maybe list is jam packed with comedies too, including a play adaptation and one of the funniest ladies in the biz! Also, this might be the first time that I don't have a "if it's your jam" list of the movies that I absolutely won't see that may fancy your interest -- so let's focus on all those recs though!

Here's what's on my watchlist for this month...

Spring Reads!

Spring Reads!

With spring comes new beginnings -- including a whole new list of books (some are in stores now and a few others will drop later this season) to take with us to the park, the beach, on our weekend trips -- 'cause SPRING Y'ALL! :) It's packed with thrillers (my fave!), a YA fantasy novel (book one in a series), a short story collection, and a comedy! I also have some bonus reads if you're able to sneak them into your day. :)

So grab that (hopefully cold and iced) coffee or latte, and check out my recs and a few that will be on my reading list for this spring!! (There are too many good ones to list -- these are just a few that I think you should check out!)

Movies in April!

Movies in April!

It's April, which means spring is here (and the new Avengers: Infinity War is about to drop)!!

Last month, I saw a good amount of movies, thanks to my MoviePass! My favorite one from last month was a movie that was actually on my "maybe list" -- Ready Player One! Also quick side note, if you're looking for a way to see more movies in the theater, I highly suggest signing up for MoviePass! Life-changing for all movie lovers y'all, life-changingl! :)

Back to the movies for this month, I only have two films that I'm really, really excited to see! It's the shortest list I've had so far but one I also believe includes absolute hits! One of them is in a genre I hardly ever watch! (Oh geez!) The other is one that doesn't even need a description. ;)

My maybe list is stacked, and I'm positive I will be seeing a good amount of those as well, thanks to (again) my MoviePass! :) Also, I have a few on my "if it's your jam list" for the ones I won't be seeing but my fancy your interest.

So grab your cup of joe, and let's get to it! Here's what I'm seeing this month in theaters!

Passion & Purpose

Passion & Purpose

Passion is a great thing to have, to an extent.

I read this interesting article yesterday by writer Brianna Wiest: 7 Things You're Relying On In Life That Are Holding You Back."

On passion, Wiest wrote:

"Passion is such a heavily used buzzword when it comes to defining what makes for meaningful and aspirational work. When people say "pursue your passion," what they really mean is to find something you care about enough to work on consistently.
Passion is emotion-based, and therefore, unpredictable if not fleeting. If you rely on passion to propel you through your life's work, you will be constantly at the whim of it. Cultivating principles means adopting behaviors that consistently work you toward your goals, whether or not you always "feel" like it."

Movies in March!

Movies in March!

February was a fantastic movie month, solely because of Black Panther!! And honestly, if you haven't seen it yet, I suggest you add it to the top of your watchlist asap!! No but seriously, you should. :) (Other February movies I saw: Annihilation was pretty interesting and Game Night was fun.)

If you have seen Black Panther already (!), I have a small list of what you might want to consider watching this month in the theater! We have a nice selection of different genres -- and one thing they all have in common is that they are all female led films! #GirlPower! I've also included a mini review of one of the films below that I've already seen!

My "maybe list" is a bit longer and is comprised of some movies that I probably will be able to see as well, if time allows. And of course, I have a couple on my "if it's your jam" list too that I will pass on but might fancy your interest. So let's get to it!

Movies in February!

Movies in February!

February Edition (aka Black Panther Month!)

After a somewhat uninspiring slate of movies in January, February is here -- which means a big movie I've been looking forward to seeing will finally grace the big screen!! Oh, it's also Black History Month y'all! Aye! :)

I have three movies on my main watch list for this month! Also, my "maybe list" only has one on it and I have a couple on the "if it's your jam" list!

So grab your cup of joe and check out my recs and what I'm watching in theaters this month! :)

A New Year, A Better You.

A New Year, A Better You.

Okay, I know what you're probably thinking, "here's another new year inspirational post" -- but just hear me out real quick. :)

We've made it to the middle of January. (Success, am I right?!) I know some of us started out pretty strong at the beginning of this month -- and I'm sure a lot of us are still on path, still sticking to all of our resolutions we set for 2018. But to some of us, it feels as though life has already gotten in the way. Already. We have all of our goals and what we hope to achieve and then life quickly happens and tries to alter our hustle, our visions, our goals in some way.

I wanted to share a few things I consider and try to remember when this happens, a few tools I keep close...
